A Defeated Man

A man once stood alone,
In the depths of his despair,
All that he had known,
Was stripped away, leaving him bare.

His heart was heavy with sorrow,
His soul consumed by grief,
He had lost everything,
And found no relief.

He had lost his love,
His home, and his dreams,
He was left with nothing,
But a world that seemed to
mock and mock at him.

He wandered the streets,
A shadow in the night,
Hoping for a miracle,
But finding only blight.

He looked up to the sky,
And cried out in anguish,
"Is there still hope for me,
Or am I doomed to suffer?"

But as the night grew darker,
And the rain began to pour,
He knew there was no escape,
From this eternal war.

He lay down on the ground,
And let out a mournful cry,
He had nothing left to live for,
And no reason to try.

He closed his eyes,
And whispered goodbye,
But as he lay there, alone,
He felt his will to live die.
